- Lingering tooth pain or discomfort
- Sensitivity to hot/cold liquids
- Discoloration (teeth will turn gray, blue/black)
Is a root canal necessary?
Yes. If a tooth is severely infected, the only dental procedure that our dentist can complete to allow you to save the tooth is a root canal. Dr. Moretta will always recommend procedures that allow you to keep your natural teeth, since even advanced technology cannot compare to natural teeth. If an infected or dying tooth remains untreated, extraction will be necessary. This will require additional dental treatment in the future to replace the missing tooth.
What can I expect with getting a root canal?
Should you need a root canal, remember that this is a fairly simple dental procedure that is completed with very minimal discomfort. During the visit, Dr. Moretta, will remove any infected pulp which will help carefully clean the tooth. Once this step is completed, the tooth is then sealed in order to prevent any new infections.
Please contact our Huntington Beach dental office for more information on root canal therapy or if you think that you may have an infected tooth. Our dentist will do everything possible to help save your natural tooth.
