Periodontal (Gum) Disease:
The most common reason for tooth loss today is periodontal (gum) disease. It is
estimated that 80 percent of the adult population has some level of gum disease,
ranging from mild gingivitis to advanced periodontal disease. Gum disease is a
silent killer of teeth (and perhaps more), as it is rarely painful and it's
usually hidden from sight. However, there are signs and symptoms that can help you detect it, including... Read More
Teeth Whitening:
Years ago, the only way to bleach teeth was in the dental office. Today, when it comes to a whiter, brighter smile, you have a variety of options. You can use over-the-counter (OTC) whitening toothpastes and bleaching systems. However, they may whiten your teeth, but it will take much longer that a professional system. OTC bleaching systems do not use custom trays, so you may be ingesting more bleaching agent than what remains on your teeth. There are two effective modalities commonly used in practice today; in-office teeth whitening such as,
Brite Smile, which offers optimum results in the shortest amount of time, and
home whitening systems...

Porcelain Veneers: A Makeover for your Teeth
Dental veneers are thin, custom-designed restorations made of tooth-like ceramic material that, when applied over the surface of a tooth, can cover worn tooth enamel, uneven tooth alignment, or even spacing, chips or cracks (See our Before and After page). Dental veneers fall into the category of cosmetic dentistry because they create a bright, white smile with beautifully aligned, shapely teeth. The ceramic quality of today's veneers provides a more natural look than what has been available in the past. Regardless of what causes unattractive teeth, dental veneers may solve most or even all of your cosmetic dental issues.
Bonding
Bonding is a term that is usually used to describe repairing imperfections in the front teeth. Minor chips on single teeth and gaps between the teeth are the most common reason bonding is used (larger fractures and misaligned teeth are usually corrected with porcelain veneers). The material applied is similar to what is used for white (composite) fillings. The bonding material is matched to the shade of your teeth and we shape this material to the desired results. Most of the time this is completed in one visit, many times without the need for anestesia.
White (Composite) Fillings
Are you embarrassed by those ugly black fillings in your mouth? Do people notice them when you laugh? You can now have your teeth looking like the way nature intended. Composites have been the cutting edge material in dentistry for the past several years since it's made with a high-tech plastic. A "Direct" Composite filling is a tooth colored filling that is done in a single office visit. It is most appropriate for small restorations. Click here to see the difference white fillings can make.
Floss or DIE???
Sounds a bit silly or far-fetched, doesn't it? However, recent medical research is revealing some startling news about gum disease. It appears that heart attacks, strokes, premature birth, and even cancer may be more related to chronic inflammation in the body than the usual suspects. The most common source of chronic inflammation in the body is Gum Disease! The newly suspected relationship between gum disease, heart disease and strokes is still being studied, but it seems that healthy gums may actually maintain a healthy heart! Other studies have linked gum disease with low birth weight babies. Cancer (pancreatic, specifically) has also been linked to the chronic inflammation from periodontal disease.
Digital X-Rays:
Digital x-rays are a form of x-ray imaging where digital sensors are used instead of traditional x-ray film. Significantly less radiation can be used to produce an image of similar contrast to conventional x-rays. Other advantages include; time efficiency through bypassing the chemical processing, the ability to digitally transfer and enhance images, the x-rays can be enlarged on a computer screen for easier viewing, and because there is no chemicals or lead, the process is environmentally friendly.
TMJ Disorder Treatment
The temporomandibular joint ( TMJ) is the main jaw joint. This joint is prone to developing a dysfunction or disorder, causing pain throughout the jaw, face, head, and even neck and shoulders. Although TMJ is the actual jaw joint, the acronym is often used to describe the syndrome or disorder. More appropriately, TMD is used, but the two are often interchanged freely. TMJ/TMD can cause not only pain and discomfort, but also a slow erosion of the teeth. When the jaw is misaligned, teeth may become worn or chipped...
